5 Solutions to Regaining Life's Balance


We all know that we have struggles at times to find good balance between work, family, recreation, rest and self. This can become overwhelming and can seem like you have lost your control. Here are 5 solutions to working towards regaining back your balance...

  1. How balanced is your life? Review and assess all areas of your life. Your health, family, relationships, career, finances, physical environment, fun/recreation, personal growth. Use these questions to help... How do you currently spend time in these areas? How would you like to spend time in these areas? What areas need/or you would like to improve on? How could you make space for the changes needed? Action - Set some goals and choose a small step to take with each goal.

  2. How much care are you taking of yourself? Knowing who we are and what our needs are is essential to a balanced life. What's stopping you feeling happy and in control? Do you know what your self-care needs are? Action: Visualise your ideal self. What do you need to do to be that person?

  3. Can you slow down and do less? Slowing down can be extremely hard to do when life is constantly throwing events, challenges, work, preparing meals, keeping home, your kid's commitments etc your way. Can you recognise when life is getting out of control? When was the last time you tried something new? Action - Set a task to do eg; When I get home from work I want to look forward to.....

  4. Identifying your energy zappers. Are you getting enough sleep? We cannot function productively for ourselves and others if we are constantly tired. Are you mentally exhausted and full of mind clutter? Are you emotionally coping with everything? Action: Your zappers will need some zapping so choose 1 to start with, identify a change to make and then take a small step to make this change a daily habit.

  5. Detox your toxic relationships/situations. Who and where we spend time with has a significant impact on our wellbeing. Start being aware and intentional with whom and where you spend your time. Action: Identify how you can spend more time with those that uplift and inspire you.
