Best Foods for our Senior Years
I would consider myself heading closer to my senior years and I want to be geared with the knowledge of what is going to be best for me. I have a resource 'Foods that Harm, Foods that Heal' and it is such a good book to have on hand. We are so lucky that in today's world there has been so much research and information for us out there to learn what is going to be the best food choices for us to consume to keep us healthy and out of the doctors rooms... I feel we are a bit m

Pears
So here I go again to my trusty resource Foods that Harm, Foods that Heal - Reader's Digest.... Did you know that the pear is called the 'butter fruit'? Europeans call them this because of it's smooth texture and that they make an ideal snack, dessert or even a sweet or spicy side dish. One medium pear provides about 6g of fibre and I didn't know that canned pears lose most of their vitamin C due to the peeling and heating process. The health benefits are: Helps lower chole

Let’s Live a ‘NO EXCUSE’ Lifestyle
When I talk to people I quite often hear of health issues they are dealing with and that test results show nothing (so frustrating) and they don’t know what to do…they continue on with their current lifestyle unsure of what can be done in regards to the education and support they can access on their path to feeling happier and healthier. In the long run let's get out of the rut we find ourselves in and make some changes to what we have been doing. It might just help! Chan

Get off the JUNK!!
We have to get to some point in our life where we realise that the consumption of ultra-processed foods do not serve us well. When I say 'ultra-processed' I mean foods and drinks that are in packaging that have had additives to preserve their shelf life, refined flour, sugar, all natural foods that have been altered in some way. Do you know what damage these do to your beautiful bodily organs? I know they are on the shelves for us to purchase to ease our meal prepping and

Toasted Muesli
This muesli recipe is one that I would love you to make it your own. Add your own favourites or try adding something new. And when cooking this please know your oven. The temperature and cooking time is trial and error so maybe start with a less temperature say 150°C for 30 minutes and then check. It will continue to cook as it cools down as well. Ingredients: 8 cups of organic rolled oats ½ cup roughly chopped almonds ¼ cup roughly chopped macadamias ¼ cup pepitas ¼ cup

The Importance of knowing your Body during Menopause
I'm back writing about this topic as I am going through this very thing right now in real time! I was having a Facetime session with my girlfriends a few weeks ago and we got onto this topic. One thing we did take away from our get together was to keep the conversations happening. To keep talking about our experiences and you know what? I'm lucky because I can have a good laugh with my girlfriends as well. There has to be some form of humour to this all don't you reckon?

Sustaining a Healthy Lifestyle
Once you have reached your goals health and wellness wise, how do you sustain that and live the rest of your life looking after your wellness? This is a great question and one I bet we have all asked at least once in our lifetime if we’ve ever gone on the latest fad diet plan. We achieve the weight loss, dress size etc, and then what now? How do we keep our bodies functioning on limited nutrients for the rest of our life? I discovered this the long and hard way as everythi

Summer Season Meal Plans
The sounds and feels of Summer spark brightly coloured salads to me. What do you feel like when the warmer months hit? I thought I'd give you some ideas on what types of meals to think about and how to build them into your week. I always start with the base of greens so think lettuce, rocket, baby spinach, english/silverbeet spinach, bok choy, shredded cabbage etc. Then I look at what grains I can add in such as brown rice, basmati, wild rice, couscous, buckwheat, quinoa,
