There becomes a point in our lives, quite often, that we become unhappy with how we're feeling. Does this sound familiar? Is this something that has been going on for years?
Let's start with setting just 1 wellness goal... I have worksheets that make this a fun and easy way to work through and you'll end up with a goal at the end. Your goal could be, as an example, to be able to get out of bed with purpose and no sluggishness. Let me know if you would like a goal worksheet and I'll send one to you.
Eat one healthy meal each day or each week to start with. If you are able to do this, you will achieve your first wellness habit that will be something you are able to stick to and then you can build on this. We started with Meat Free Mondays, and this has been great. We now have a few nights a week where we don't add any meat to our meals. I am completely plant-based when it comes to eating but my fiancé still loves his meat/chicken, so he adds this into most of the veggie meals we have.
By adding more fruit and vegetables to each meal you are adding more fibre, antioxidants etc... which will only benefit you in so many ways. We as adults are recommended to have 30-35g of fibre every day and on average, Australians are consuming around 15g every day. So we can add more!
If you aren't already, join a community group our exercise class. This could be something like a walking group that meets regularly, bowls, tennis, cycling, kayaking etc. Have a think about what your body needs in the form of movement as to what you need to be doing. I know for me I'm at that stage where I need to move every day and pilates, yoga, cardio (walking, cycling) and swimming are really good for me. We start to lose muscle mass every decade and as we get into our latter years this movement is so important so that we can support our skeleton from falls and things like osteoporosis.
Turning off your screen an hour before bed, lowering the light in the room and establishing a bed time routine that includes some soft music, a candle, a cup of chamomile tea, writing in a gratitude journal can be a great way to slow the mind down and get it ready for sleep. While we sleep a lot of important things happen... our body systems rest, repair and rejuvenate. When we wake up after a good nights sleep we feel refreshed, happy and ready to step out and into the day.
If you're ready to start to make this a real habit and need some support... let me know.
with Wholesome love
