Autumn Food and Mood

When eating seasonally the diversity of foods is inspiring...

I love Autumn in fact, I love a change of season. If you eat seasonally then your choice of fresh fruit and veggies can inspire a new menu every 3 months. Local seasonal produce typically is fresher, tastier, more nutritious and is usually on special too.

The mornings and nights are getting cooler and we start to slow down our pace a bit. More time for planning what's on the menu and time for experimenting with all the beautiful fruit and vegetables that are available.

Autumn Vegetables: Asian greens, beans, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, eggplant, fennel, leeks, mushrooms, onions, parsnips, spinach, sweetcorn, zucchini are to name but a few.

Autumn Fruits: Apples, avocados, bananas, figs, grapes, guavas, kiwifruit, limes, nashi pears, passionfruit, pomegranates, valencia oranges.

A lot of the Autumn produce offers us Vitamin C which as we know, help to boost our immune system and support us through the cold and flu season. I love a good slow cooked curry so can't wait to start getting these on. Walking in from a long day at work to the smell of dinner.... Yummmm!

What fruit and veggies will you be inspired to eat this Autumn?
