Reducing Stress & Anxiety

It's so horrible when we get caught up in a rollercoaster full of stress and anxiety. Research is proving that stress can play a major part in the decline of our health. There are different types of stress - emotional, physical, short term, long term, environmental, health, financial etc., but there is help with various techniques to put into that toolkit of yours to help combat stress that arises.

When I think of having a 'wholesome day' I think of ways to eliminate all of the things that cause me imbalance in my life.

By adding in some lifestyle changes these can be of huge benefit to you and your overall health. Start by incorporating some of the techniques into your every day toolkit to create long lasting healthy habits. I think the best place to start is to acknowledge what is causing you the stress and anxiety.

A journal is a great way to start. Begin with writing down what your dreams are, who you want to be (how do you want to be feeling) and then establish why you want these things. Then you can look at how to get there. Gratitude journaling every day is a great place to start as well. Writing down just 3 things you are grateful for every day... see what happens when you do this consistently for a couple of weeks.

The following have many benefits:

Deep Breathing - you can find an app that will guide you through some lovely deep breathing sequences and this is very calming.

Yoga - I have joined my local studio and have also connected with and met new people in my community. Yoga provides stretching, mindfulness and calm.

Exercise - the feel good hormones we get from moving our body is very uplifting and good for our brain.

Nutrition - healthy diet - say no more here... this is really important. Nourishing from the inside out can only do us more good than harm. Be aware of the foods and drinks that do not help with our mood and wellbeing.

Sleep - how important is it that we meet the recommended sleep goal of 7-9 hours of sleep per night... It is really important for our body to rest, restore and repair. More than you know happens in your body when you are sleeping.

Relationships - having good people around you for support is a must. People to hang out with, to laugh with etc... priceless.

Community - get involved within your community. A sense if belonging is a must and this also creates purpose as well. You may already be involved in a sporting team, book club etc...

Time management - this may be hard to manage but you will need to start small here so that what you change is not overwhelming. There are apps to help manage this as well as workshops you can tap in to.

Boundaries/balance - finding balance in making YOU the priority. Can you say 'NO' when your plate is full? You have to be ok and firm in your decisions making and stick to it.

Positive thinking/affirmations/mantras - mindfulness is so powerful in your wellness journey. Learning to love YOU is again, another game changer and once you do... you won't look back.

At Wholesome Days Wellness we support you in finding balance in your life and to creating your very own Toolkit for the good days and the days that seem out of control.
